Building inspectors are looking into how part of the KGET building collapsed Saturday night.
Fire crews say a façade from the second story fell to the ground just before 10 p.m.
"The building sustained a lot of broken glass and damage to the entry area of the building. Fortunately, no one was on the sidewalk. Firefighters went through the debris, made sure we didn't have anybody there," said Battalion Chief Gary Turner, Bakersfield Fire Department.
Building inspectors will now make sure the building is still structurally sound before repairs begin.
17 News still doesn't know what caused the façade to fall down.
The building was built in 1967 and was remodeled in 1997.
Back in the day, the Pacific Bell phone company did business in the KGET building.
