Tuesday night, county supervisors voted to fine local medical marijuana shops who are in violation of new voter-approved zoning rules.
This comes after Measure G was passed in June, which prevents the pot shops locating within one mile of schools, public parks, churches, child day care centers, or other collectives.
Right now, county code enforcement say there are 12 pot shops in violation. Supervisors ruled the collectives as public nuisances that are violating zoning rules.
Supervisors voted to fine nine of 12 property owners and pot shops administrative penalties of 50 thousand dollars each and one thousand dollars a day until the shops close or move.
Only three dispensaries were spared fines. One has already closed up shop, one was given until January to comply, and the case against another was dropped.
