BAKERSFIELD, CA-- Police say an elderly man was shot to death in his home in northwest Bakersfield.
Detectives say the shooter could be his son but no arrests have been made.
"I just saw her waving her hands and just running in circles in the street," said Woody Mejia, who was laying tile at a nearby house.
Around 8 a.m. Saturday, Mejia said a woman ran into the street to try and get help for her son and husband who had been shot.
"Officers cleared the residence and they located an adult male who we believe is the father and deceased inside the residence," said Sgt. Frank Gonzales, Bakersfield Police Department.
"The son was also suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso area."
Police believe it was an argument that turned deadly.
Officers say the son had recently moved back into the home. Neighbors say the neighborhood is usually quiet and they've never seen the family fight in the past.
"But we have never seen anything like this in this area," said John Wilkerson, neighbor. "I've got a sister and seven cousins on this street and I don't fear one bit for them at all."
The son, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital.
No word yet on his condition.
