A respected Cal State Bakersfield professor was laid to rest Saturday afternoon.
Dozens of family and friends gathered at Hillcrest Cemetary to celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Michael Flachmann.
According to the university, Flachmann died last Thursday from a sudden illness in Cedar City, Utah.
He was a Shakespearean scholar and honors program director.
Family and friends say he will be missed.
"We're saddened by and mourn his sudden passing. Yet, we smile, as we remember him and reflect on the many ways in which he touched and enriched our lives," said CSUB President Horace Mitchell.
Faculty members say he played a major role in serving CSUB.
Many of his former students said Flachmann not only taught Shakespear, he brought it to life.
