BAKERSFIELD - A woman who was jailed in connection with the death of a toddler has now officially been charged with murder.
20-year-old Wendy Guadalupe Gomez made her first court appearance Monday in connection with the case.
She was charged with second degree murder and torture.
According to court records, two-year-old Karla Isidro was found late Friday night inside a car in the 3300 block of Chester Lane.
Investigators say the girl had injuries to her lower body, but they haven't yet revealed the cause of her death.
An autopsy failed to determine how she died so toxicology tests will be performed.
Investigators say Gomez is not the victim's mother, but had taken custody of the girl three months before the child's death.
