Non-profit needs help to feed the needy on Thanksgiving

A local non-profit is still in need of help.

Several charities that normally serve Thanksgiving meals to the homeless and disadvantaged, aren't this year due to a lack of donations.

So, Blessing Corner Ministries is trying to pick up the slack.

But, donations here are also down from last year due to the sagging economy.

Pastor Bonnie Turner is worried she'll have to turn away people who have nowhere else to turn to.

There's an urgent need for turkeys and hams and all the fixings that make a Thanksgiving meal special.

If you can help with food or cash, bring donations to the Blessing Corner as soon as possible at 101 Union Avenue or call 477-6028.

They're also looking for volunteers.

Thanksgiving meals will be served Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
