ARVIN, CA- Arvin residents could get a break on their water bills after a broken pipeline left many without water last month.
Monday night, members of the Arvin Water Board said they would consider a rate relief request from Kern County Supervisor Leticia Perez.
She urged the board to make sure no one gets charged for water they didn't use.
Meantime, Perez said a water town hall meeting next month will addresss the pipeline break and the larger issue of high arsenic levels, in Arvin's water supply.
"There is a long-term health concern. Luckily, the state is working with us, through Prop 84, to provide the funds to build a new well, and make sure the arsenic water is not an issue for this community, their children, or their grandchildren. That has to be safe," said Supervisor Leticia Perez
Perez says state and local water experts will take part in the town hall. It's tentatively set for Thursday, March 6 at 6 p.m. at the Arvin Veterans Hall.
