BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Police have received several calls Monday from business owners about unsolicited calls, asking for credit card information. The caller according to police is purporting to be a BPD detective asking for credit card information.
Police want to remind you detectives and officers will not call for identifying information over the phone unless in response to an ongoing investigation where the victim has been in contact with an investigator and established a relationship with that detective or officer.
The department is also reminding citizens to never give personal identifying information over the phone unless the individual is initiating the phone call and has an established relationship with the entity they are contacting.
