TAFT, CA -- The search continues for an inmate who walked away from a minimum security satellite camp at the Taft Correctional Institution. Prison officials say late Friday afternoon, while conducting the official count, staff at the Taft Correctional Institution discovered one inmate was missing from the Institution’s Satellite Camp facility. The Satellite Camp is a minimum-security facility that houses approximately 550 federal inmates. There is no security fence around the facility, which is common for a minimum-security facility within the federal prison system.
Several law enforcement agencies, including Bakersfield police are looking for 34-year-old Lionel Alvarez. He's described as a white man of Hispanic origin. He was born in Los Angeles. He is 5’7” tall, and weighs approximately 190 lbs. with brown hair, and brown eyes.
He has a horses, skulls, and flames collage tattooed on his top right arm, an eagle and a snake tattooed on the top of his stomach, an Aztec collage tattooed on the top of his back, a dragon, fish and jaguar collage tattooed on his top right leg and an Aztec skulls collage tattooed on his top left arm.
He has used the following aliases: “Frog” and “Frog Dog.” There is no employment information available for Lionel Alvarez prior to his incarceration.
