National night out against crime in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA- Hundreds of people participated in the 31st annual "National Night Out Against Crime" in Bakersfield Tuesday night.

The Bakersfield Police Department hosted the event at its headquarters on Truxtun Avenue.

In addition to the BPD, a number of other agencies and programs were on hand including the CHP, American Red Cross, Hall Ambulance and a Life Interrupted.

"It is extremely important to show the partnerships and collaboration with all of our community partners, whether it's business or community programs, and even there's faith-based groups are out here and offering services to the community to show a holistic approach to making Bakersfield a better place," said Lyle Martin the Assistant BPD Police Chief

This year, the BPD also offered tours of its headquarters.
