BAKERSFIELD, CA- We now know the name of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting at a gas station in southeast Bakersfield.

The Kern County Coroner identified the man as Michael Laray Dozer, 26, of Bakersfield.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at a gas station in the 2100 block of East Brundage Lane.

Investigators said someone called 911 reporting dozer was pouring gas on a woman and threatening to light her on fire.

The first officer on scene saw dozer was holding what witnesses describe as a horseshoe shaped bike lock, and charged the officer.

That's when the BPD said the officer fired one round, hitting him in the torso.

Dozer was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The BPD said the woman at the gas pump did not know Dozer.

The officer involved was placed on routine administrative leave.
