McCarthy is newest recipient of John Brock Award

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.– The 2014 John Brock Community Service Award was given to Judi Tuttle McCarthy last night as the newest recipient of the prestigious honor.

McCarthy is the founding chair of the Women’s and Girl’s Fund of the Kern Community foundation and has held numerous leadership roles with various organizations through the years.

She also volunteers for numerous causes, including the Boy Scouts of America.

"For one thing, I’m really proud of Bakersfield that it values community service. And secondly, I'm really honored to be considered with wonderful people who've been honored in the past like the Dezembers and the Barbichs and Ray Karpe and Jim Burke and of course John Brock Senior,” said McCarthy. “It's quite an honor."

The John Brock Award is sponsored by CaliforniaStateUniversity, Bakersfield’s School of Business and Public Administration.

Proceeds from the event help fund the John Brock Endowment, Which provides scholarships to students at CSUB.
