BAKERSFIELD, CA. - Another bear was found in a homeowner's back yard this morning -- but there's a happy ending with this one.
At around 4 a.m., homeowner Roy Hilbish called the Sheriff's Office notifying them of a bear on his property. He learned of the bear after waking up to his dog barking at the bear.
Fish and Wildlife authorities responded to the home on the 9300 block of Kern Canyon Road around 6 a.m. and found the bear in a tree.
After the bear was tranquelized while in the tree, firefighters and wildlife officials cleared the area in the tree to allow the bear to safely drop onto a tarp held by firefighters.
Officials have reported the bear is going to a discreet place where it can be safely released back into its natural habitat.
