BAKERSFIELD. - Bakersfield College is holidng its first-ever "Kern Agriculture Summit" today.
The community college is bringing state and local farming leaders, along with legislators, to the campus to address the issues our local agriculture economy faces due to the drought, pests, available land and environmental requirements.
A look at agricultural challenges in the political arena will be presented by Congressman Kevin McCarthy and Senator Jean Fuller.
The summit is all day today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Gil Bishop Sports Center at BC
Tickets will be available at the door for $75.
"This summit will examine the seeds sown in the past, cultivate the knowledge of today, and prepare for the harvests of tomorrow," said Leah Carter, Chair of the Kern Agriculture Summit.
