Mayor Harvey Hall cut the ribbon this afternoon to officially open this new resource center called Dream Builders.

It's a 24/7 crisis response, prevention and intervention center that was opened by Stay Focused Ministries, Stop the Violence, and The National Brotherhood Association.

This new facility is there primarily to work to prevent violence, crime, and drug addiction, but their doors are open for much more than that. Organizers say they will provide food, clothing and even hair cuts for the homeless. They also say that they want to be a safe haven for abused mothers and children to go to.

The funding for this resource center was provided by these three organizations with some help from the Housing Authority of Kern County.

Assembly woman Shannon Grove said "If people want to donate, they can. They still need a couch and desk and other things"

The 24 hour hotline number is 363-9849.
