BAKEERSFIELD, CA. - The California High-Speed Rail Authority hosted a forum this morning to give details on the upcoming bid to begin construction through Wasco and Shafter.
The authority said the event allowed interested firms to network and learn about the requirements of the contract.
The contracted route will extend approximately 30 miles through the central valley, beginning one mile north of the Tulare and Kern County line to Galpin Street, north of Bakersfield.
The estimated cost of this part of the project is between $700 and $900 million.
"This is a networking opportunity, so small businesses or individuals that want to work on the project can meet those companies that are proposing to submit a bid on the project," said Diana Gomez, Central Valley Regional Director.
The forum was held at Bakersfield College's Forum West room.
