BAKERSFIELD, CA - Sheriff's deputies are investigating an officer involved shooting involving three park rangers.
The park rangers were patrolling an area near Hart Park Saturday night when they heard several gunshots. During their investigation, the rangers came across a stolen SUV.
"One of the park rangers was walking up to the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle suddenly went in reverse and went reversing towards him in his direction. At that point, that park ranger fired several rounds at the vehicle. As it continued past him, and began to make a U-turn, the other two discharged their firearms," said Ray Pruitt with the Kern County Sheriff's Department.
27-year-old William Volschow and 62-year-old Martha Martin were shot and taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Both were booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Volschow is also facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
