There are new details in a child endangerment case. Police were called to a local hospital last week regarding a 14-month-old boy with a possible broken leg.

The boy's mother, Lissett Jurado, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and assault with a deadly weapon. But, she has since been released.

When the boy was taken to the hospital, doctors found he had numerous bruises, abrasions, internal bleeding in his brain and broken bones.

Jurado says she and her baby are victims of spousal abuse at the hands of her former boyfriend and the child's father, David Meza.

But, Meza's mother says that's not true.

Lissett Jurado says a fight over drug use with Meza one evening, escalated quickly.

"We started arguing, then he wanted to use meth. I pushed him and then he started hitting me, and I had Noah in my hands and I dropped him. He beat me on the floor. I had bruises on my leg, my eye was black, bruises on my arms, and I had like red right here," said Jurado.

Jurado says when things finally cooled down, she went home.

Shortly after, Jurado says she was bathing Noah with her sister when they noticed more injuries. "When she took off his shirt I noticed he had bruises and so did she. So I just started crying out loud," said Jurado.

Jurado says then she chased after Meza who had just left the house.

"I said look, look at him. And, then he was like 'no, that's from when you dropped him.' But, these were little bruises on his back." said Jurado.

Jurado's sister took Noah to the hospital, where two fractures were discovered on his legs, one new and one old.

Jurado says she took the boy to the hospital last month about his leg, but she says doctors didn't find anything wrong.

David Meza's mother says her son isn't perfect, but he is a good father. And, she says Jurado is the unfit parent.

"She likes to go out and party. She likes to drink a lot and she drives drunk with the kids in the car. She isn't in the habit of buckling the kids up in the car either. I have seen that with my own eyes," said Hermelinda Meza.

Jurado and David Meza also have a daughter together. She is in the care of Meza's mother. As for Noah, he's staying with Jurado's sister.

Bakersfield police say the District Attorney's office sent the case back to them for further investigation.

There is no word on whether Jurado or the baby's father are facing any charges.
