Firefighters have gained the upper hand on a grass fire in Tehachapi.
The fire is burning off of Highway 202 in the area of Banducci Road and has burned about 34 acres. Firefighters say they have the flames under control.
Off-duty firefighters moved horses out of the fire's path and several homes and animals have been saved.
It has been windy throughout the area and the fire is being fought from several sides.
