BAKERSFIELD, CA - A group of World War II and Korean War veterans are heading to Washington, D.C. to see their memorials. Kern County's third honor flight took off Friday morning from Meadows Field Airport.
Thirty-one veterans, 29 from World War II and 2 from Korea, are on board the flight. They'll arrive in our nation's capitol this afternoon. The group includes two female veterans, the first two to go on Kern County's Honor Flight.
Once there, they will take a whirlwind tour of the memorials and D.C.
The veterans return Sunday at 9:30 pm and organizers are hoping to have a big group to welcome them back.
