A bank robbery in southwest Bakersfield locked down a high school and had police searching door to door for suspects Tuesday. As of 5 p.m., police said the suspects were still on the loose and possibly armed.

Police say two men wearing bandannas entered the Citizens Business Bank on Ming Avenue around 2 p.m. and took an undisclosed amount of cash. Although no one in the bank saw a gun, police say one suspect had his hand positioned like he was armed.

According to police, the suspects drove to a neighborhood near Stockdale Highway and Allen Road. Police say a tracking device in some of the twenty dollar bills that were taken, led them to the location.

Police went door to door searching for the suspects while nearby Bakersfield Christian High School was put on lockdown.

"We are going to continue to investigate the matter," said Michaela Beard, public information officer for the Bakersfield Police Department. "We will be looking at any or all opportunities for evidence to locate and identify the suspects in this robbery."

The suspects are described at two Hispanic men with brown eyes, both about 5'7", 160 pounds, in their early 20's, and wearing black hooded sweatshirts.

One was wearing a red bandanna and was possibly armed. Another was wearing a blue bandanna on the lower part of his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
