BAKERSFIELD, CA - A 26-year-old man is in custody after a standoff with police, lasting about three hours Tuesday morning.

A Bakersfield Police Department spokesperson says James Lamar Thomas was wanted in connection with a downtown shooting on April 20th. They say he was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over just before 1:00 am Tuesday. Thomas fled to a residence and a standoff began.

There were four adults in the residence, including the suspect, along with two children. Family members told 17 News Thomas knows the people in the home, but police have not confirmed that.
