The Kern County Coroner's office has identified a woman's remains, found in Wofford Heights, as that of missing mother Brandi Tanner.
Tanner, 22, was last seen July 7th. Her father said she left his house after an argument with her brother. A neighbor discovered the remains Sunday night in the 200 block of Choppo Road on a hillside just about a half mile from the Tanner home.
It wasn't until Wednesday that the coroner positively identified the remains as that of Tanner.
Dan Tanner said he and his family believed all along that the remains were that of his daughter but was heartbroken when he got the call from the coroner Wednesday.
"Right now, my mind is like a bowl of jelly," Dan Tanner said. People are asking me if she'll be buried or cremated. I don't even know how much of her is left after the birds and animals got a hold of her. I don't know if there's enough to cremate and put in a thimble. I know nothing."
The cause of Brandi Tanner's death has not been determined. Toxicology tests are pending.
She leaves behind two daughters, ages two and three.
