BAKERSFIELD, CA -- With more than half of Bakersfield's population married -- our city isn't making any list of best places for singles to live. That doesn't mean you can't find love.
Sperling's BestPlaces listed bakersfield as the sixth least single city in the U.S.
For many people -- finding the one can be a challenge.
Chris Neal said, "I'm just looking for a hardworking girl who has ambitions and just has a life plan."
Sarah Carrillo said, "You'd have to be good looking, of course, funny, smart, honest."
Some Bakersfield singles have realistic expectations -- but they say finding a match is harder than you might think.
Carrillo said, "There's not really many places to go to meet people."
If you've run out of places to look, a new company is offering another avenue to find a partner. California Singles is a matchmaking service that pairs clients up based on compatibility. Representatives say it's the only business of it's kind in the area.
Marketing director Kelly Millar said, "It's about keeping an open mind and an open heart, being positive, having fun, living in the moment and taking advantage of life right now and what happens with it, happens with it. We're creating better odds. That's what we do."
