BAKERSFIELD - Volunteers are working hard to get animals at the Kern County Animal Shelter adopted, before it moves this weekend.
Zach Skow of Marley's Mutts and his "Mutt Militia" are donating bowls, leashes, collars and food to anyone who adopts a dog at the Mount Vernon Facility on Thursday or Friday.
"Kern County Animal Control helped us save the lives of hundreds of animals in the last several years since I started," said Skow. "The crew here is unbelievable. They have the toughest, most thankless job on the face of the planet. We gotta step up and help them out and help the dogs out."
Skow brought "Hooch" with him Wednesday to help with the giveaway. The Mastiff, who had his tongue and ears cut off, has gained 20 pounds since he was rescued by Skow and now serves as an ambassador with Marley's Mutts.
