BAKERSFIELD, CA-- It is the night gamers across the world have been waiting for as Microsoft's Xbox One was released Friday.
Those who haven't pre-ordered the five hundred dollar plus gaming system waited in the cold and rain at the Best Buy in Rosedale. A grandmother from Bakersfield felt it was a chance to bond with family even if meant waiting in line since 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
"Because of my grandson, I love him,” said Jackie Punt.
Some who who were waiting in line were not buying any games instead they wanted an Xbox One for its interactive features.
"You got the Skype integration, you got Netflix, Amazon Prime. Its an entertainment system," said Jason Coleman.
17 News talked with Best Buy officials and they said the mall security and Bakersfield Police had an increased security presence to deter robberies like the ones that happened last week after the launch of the PS4.
