BAKERSFIELD, CA - The City of Bakersfield is making moves to stop the overwhelming crime increase.
In a weekly memo released Friday, the city said it's working on a study to reduce police response times.
In June, Bakersfield Police Chief Greg Williamson, said the average response time to a priority call was eleven minutes.
This comes after an overall 20 percent increase in crime since prison realignment. Realignment pushed more inmates to county jail to ease state prison overcrowding.
As part of the local study, the city wants to get the International Association of Chiefs of Police involved. The estimated cost is $100,000. The expenditure is expected to go before the board January 22nd.
