BAKERSFIELD, CA -- It was a night of inspiring stories and fundraising to help local families with disabled children. H.E.A.R.T.S. Connection hosted its second annual "night of inspiration" dinner at the Doubletree Hotel Thursday night.
H.E.A.R.T.S. Connection is a non-profit that provides free services, including support groups and referrals to parents who have a child with a disability.
"One thing very unique about Hearts Connection is the people who work there are parents of kids with special needs. So when a parent comes in and talks with us they're talking to someone who's walked the walk. So when they're describing the issue they're going through, we've been there and truly feel for what they're going through," says Susan Graham, director Hearts Connection.
Organizers want the community to realize people with disabilities are not limited in what they can accomplish.
