Bakersfield, CA-- Non-profit organizations in Kern County have received $60,000 in grant monies from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California, it was announced Wednesday.
A symbolic check was presented to the recipients at the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House, at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. BMH is one of the grant recipients.
The money was dispersed to four other non-profits, including San Joaquin Valley Hospital, the Assistance League of Bakersfield, Buena Vista Museum of Natural History, and the California Living Museum.
The Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House has been serving the community for five years, through donations from local McDonald's restaurant franchise operators, and the community. The organization serves family members of a child who is being treated at a local area hospital, by providing discounted or free overnight accommodations for those who live more than 25 miles away from the hospital.
