BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Governor Brown has appointed Bakersfield City Council member Harold Hanson, 77, to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley.
The organization is a public-private partnership that focuses on improving economic vitality and the quality of life for valley residents. The Kern Council of Governments had nominated Hanson for the gubernatorial appointment.
Hanson, representing Ward 5 in Bakersfield, was first elected to the city council in 2000 and is serving his third term as Kern COG's chairman. He also serves as a Board member for the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.
Hanson is a member of the Knights of Columbus. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hanson is a Republican.
