BAKERSFIELD,CA- For nearly a decade, Kern Regional Transit routes have stayed the same. However, that will change come August 4.
Six months ago, Kern Transit officials began to take note of the feedback to improve customer satisfaction and on-time performance.
"During that time we got a lot of feedback from our passengers on better ways to serve them," said Kern Transit manager Bob Neath.
On Monday, the county's public transportation provider will hold a meeting to let their riders know of the changes.
The biggest change will be from Lamont to Bakersfield. Currently it operates a loop that starts in Lamont through Bakersfield.
But it will soon be broken up into two trips.
"One through north Bakersfield through Target, Bakersfield College, KMC and downtown. And then the other one which is going to go to south Bakersfield and that's going to go through Walmart and Valley Plaza,"said Neath.
Kern Transit has 600,000 annual boardings. It provides inner city connections for all of the communities in Kern County on 16 different fixed routes and curb to curb rides.
"We want to hear what's going on. We want to create a service that really does respond to the needs of our passengers and we feel if we do that than yet we can see our numbers increase," said Neath.
The meeting Monday night is open to the public. It's scheduled to take place at the Bakersfield Public Service building on 2700 M Street from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
