BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Police are investigating a Tuesday morning crash that killed a pedestrian in southwest Bakersfield.

Officers were dispatched just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday to the area of Wilson Road and Edgemont Drive.  Police say a 2011 Chevrolet 2500 pick-up was being driven by a 29-year-old man westbound on Wilson Rd. when, for as yet unknown reasons, the driver left the road way onto the north sidewalk, across Westholme Blvd. where the driver struck and killed an adult male pedestrian. It has not yet been determined where the pedestrian was positioned when he was impacted by the vehicle.

Police say the truck came to rest between a tree and a residence on the northwest corner of Wilson Rd. and Westholme Blvd.

It does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision.  The investigation is on-going.  If you have information regarding this case, call Officer Tim Berchtold at (661) 326-3967 or Bakersfield Police at (661) 327-7111.
