BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Officials with the North of the River Recreation and Park District (NOR), say because of  the drought resolution passed by the State Water Resources Control Board July 15, they will be modifying the irrigation schedule for its parks as well as adjusting the schedules of the eight water spray parks within the district.

The following water spray parks will close for the season on August 1st:
Emerald Cove Park - 4303 Patton Way
San Lauren Park - 4101 Mohawk Street
Sears Park - 444 Norris Road
Silver Oak Park - 15855 Opus One Drive

The remaining four spray parks will operate on a reduced schedule from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. until September 1st. Those parks are:
North Meadows Park - 3300 McCray
Madison Grove Park - 10115 Norris Road
Riverview Park - 401 Willow Drive
Polo Community Park - 11801 Noriega Road

Irrigation on general turf areas will be reduced by two thirds by August 1 and they will be reducing water on athletic fields by varying degrees, depending on their usage and conditions, as well as to ensure safe playing surfaces for their participants. “NOR shares the concern of every resident within the state in regard to our perilous water situation,” says David McArthur, General Manager. “We will work hard toward keeping our facilities in good shape, with the safety of our participants always in the forefront, while still observing the state water mandate.”
