BAKERSFIELD, CA -- The Kern County Sheriff's Department is warning Tehachapi area residents to lookout for a bear after a sighting.
It says about one o'clock Thursday afternoon, a Golden Hills resident who lives in the 21800 block of Golden Hills Boulevard reported a bear sighting.
That person said the bear that weighed about 250 pounds was in his back yard. A deputy responded and observed the bear, described as black with a white chest.
The bear was last seen running into the woods behind property. Fish and Wildlife was advised of the sighting.
The sheriff's department is asking residents in the area to report any additional sightings by calling 861-3110.
