BAKERSFIELD, CA - A Kern County jury has convicted a Bakersfield man of attempted murder.
Prosecutors say Victor Vega, 21, a member of the Varrio Chico Lamont criminal street gang, attacked a 31-year-old man in Lamont on Dec. 21, 2013.
Vega, along with six unnamed accomplices armed with pipes and knives. The victim was stabbed multiple times by Vega, resulting in nine stab wounds and blunt force trauma.
The attack ended when another individual confronted the attackers.
DNA evidence was used in the prosecution.
Vega is scheduled to be sentenced September 19, and faces a minimum of 25 years to life.
