Bakersfield police arrested a man following a high-speed chase late Wednesday that started in east Bakersfield and ended in Oildale.
The BPD said it began after officers attempted to stop Mario Baltier, 27, in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. Officers said he failed to stop and a pursuit started. During the pursuit, Baltier struck a parked vehicle in the 500 block of Bernard and the pursuit continued, officers said.
At one point in the pursuit, Baltier pushed a female passenger out of the vehicle, BPD said. She suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center. The chase ended when the vehicle struck a fence in the 500 block of Date Street and became disabled. A short foot pursuit ensued and Baltier was arrested in the 500 block of Oildale Drive.
He was booked into jail early Thursday morning on several charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle and evading a peace officer. Two officers suffered minor injuries from a police canine bite.
