The following is news release from Kern County Animal Services:

BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Kern County Animal Services reminds anyone looking for a furry friend that they can find their star play at any of their three shelters in Bakersfield, Mojave or Lake Isabella at special reduced adoption fees starting Monday,  through Saturday, February 1st.

“Now is the perfect time for anyone that has been thinking of adopting a new pet and adding that special friend to their team,” said Shyanne Schull, Interim Director for Kern County Animal Services.

Kern County Animal Services is hosting a special “Big Game,” adoption week where the public is encouraged to come out to any of their three shelters to adopt a dog or cat, because every team needs an extra set of paws.

Dog adoption fees have been reduced to just $20 and cat adoption fees have been reduced to just $10. All fees include spay/neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations, microchip, Rabies vaccination and dog license for qualifying dogs and a one year dog license for residents living in unincorporated areas of Kern County.

For information on adopting a pet, please email adopt@co.kern.ca.us or call 661-321-3000 Monday-Friday between 8 am and 5 pm.
