BAKERSFIELD, CA - Two psychologists took the stand Thursday in the trial of accused Taft Union High School shooter Bryan Oliver.

Judge John Lua banned cameras in the proceedings. 17's Kristin Price was in the courtroom.

Expert witness for the defense, Dr. Thomas Middleton, answered questions Thursday from both Chief Deputy District Attorney Mark Pafford and defense attorney Paul Cadman about his psychological evaluation of Oliver.

Middleton testified Oliver has Bipolar Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a sexual disorder and a learning disability. Middleton said Oliver's PTSD is caused by physical assaults, bullying and harassment over a long period of time.

He testified Oliver developed personas -- or characters -- in both fantasy and reality to distance himself from pain he faced.

Middleton said he doesn't think Oliver was lying when he testified he doesn't remember the shooting in January 2013.

Late Thursday afternoon, Dr. Kris Mohandie took the stand for the prosecution. Mohandie extensively explained his experience -- including his work in cases of school violence, police shootings and other high profile trials. He didn't answer questions about the case. Mohandie will take the stand again Friday morning.
